All about CAT 2015
10 Expected changes in CAT 2015
1• One day Two slots late exam
Cat is expected to happen on 29th November. A single-day in two-sessions rather than on two-days in four sessions like last year. This will help ease the changes pattern and varying changes in the level of difficulty which will be good for the students across the slots but bad as now you cannot choose the dates.
2• CAT 2015 test pattern
Test pattern will be changed (yes again!) keeping in mind candidates from different backgrounds ie unbaised towards engineers. It used to change every 3 years but now every year you see pattern changing and new challenges emerging. Read New CAT 2015 Exam Pattern.
3• Weight age
Weight age to each section will be rationalised making it unbiased towards engineers and non engineers. This means CAT might give more weight age to topics which are neutral to engineers and non engineers.
4• Academic and gender diversity
Issues of academic and gender diversity at the IIMs a priority at CAT 2015. 90% of the batch at IIMs is Engineers, now IIMs have determined to change the scene and give more even weight age to non Engineers. So all the best GEM (General-Engineer-Male).
5• More Centres
CAT will be conducted to 115 centres this year, up from last year’s 99 cities, to accomodate more students in a single days. This is a big move as 2013 saw 40 slots, 2014 – 4 slots and now only 2 slots.
6• Easy Quant or not so dominating
Quant will not dominate the percentile rank in CAT 2015. As told earlier weightage to quant will change in calculating the rank. However the number of questions will change or now is not yet clear.
Normalization will not play a major role this, unlike CAT 2014 and 2013. This will be boon for the students as their Raw scores and Ranks will not be drastically different as it used to happen in earlier years.
8• Women Empowerment
Will try to accommodate the female candidates in centres near the city areas to reduce travel time. This will be good for the girls in the smaller cities as they dont need to travel too much for the exam.
9• Content and pattern change
Expect some changes in the test content to make it more approachable to students of different backgrounds. Pattern change mainly means Quant to either become easier or less questions. Which means more weightage will be given to DI and Logic based quant questions. Or more of critical reasoning questions.
10• Non Engineers
Currently CAT is the exam leans towards engineers, it will be changed drastically so all the best to engineers.
