Good performance in CAT does help clear one roadblock in your management education path, but doesn’t guarantee a call from the best schools. For that to happen, your application and persona should match the requirements of specific B-Schools. With competition heating up, a lot of B-Schools are getting picky about their kind of students. This year’s (2013-14) weightage criterion throws up some interesting elements that will either assist or hinder your chances. Selection Criteria IIM Ahmedabad:
70% weightage to CAT scores (should be more than 99 percentile) and remaining 30% to your application rating score. The ranking and final selection is based on a diverse set of attributes which include overall performance in CAT/GMAT and also performance in individual sections, performance in personal interview, academic, co-curricular and extra-curricular achievements, work experience etc.
This year, AR will now be calculated as – AR = 0.5*A + 1.5*B + 2.5*C.
Also, a provision for direct shortlist to the WA-PI round for top performers in the five academic categories has been included.
Selection Criteria IIM Bangalore:
IIM- B emphasises consistent and high performance in past academics. The institute gives weightage to multiple criteria while selecting PGP candidates: CAT score, performance in interview, prior work experience, academic performance in school, high school and graduation programs.
Weightage for the four components (each of them being standardized) before shortlisting for WAT/PI round are: CAT = 20, 10th board=15, 12th board=10, Bachelors= 15.
Selection Criteria IIM Calcutta:
This year, the minimum cut off percentile for short-listing candidates for Personal Interview (PI) round stage is 95 or above.
Here’s a break-up for the final selection criteria for PGDM & PGDCM (Batch 2014-16): CAT Score (35) + Personal Interview (44) + Writing Ability Test (10) + Academic Diversity Factor for Bachelor’s degree (2) + Academic Diversity Factor for Post Graduation/Professional Qualification (1) + List Work Experience (maximum 8).
The institute will award 3 points extra marks to girl candidates who meet the CAT percentile.
Selection Criteria IIM Lucknow:
The minimum cut-off percentiles for PGP and PGP-ABM courses stand at 90 and 85 (for general category) respectively. The merit list for calling candidates for GDPI rounds will be based on Total (A) of: CAT score + Class X marks + Class XII marks + Graduation marks + Work Experience + Diversity Factor: Academic Discipline (3 points for certain graduation streams) + Diversity Factor: Gender (women candidates will be awarded 2 points extra).
During the GDPI round, weights will be given to the following components Total (B): Written Ability Test + Group Discussion + Personal Interview.
The final merit list will be made on the cumulative score of Total (A) + Total (B).
Selection Criteria IIM Rohtak:
The minimum CAT cut-off for is 85 percentile (general category). The admission process for 2014-16 batch will consists of CAT scores with 50% weightage (scaled to 100 ) + Personal Appearance scores, (which include Personal Interview and Written Analysis) – 30 marks + profile score including Work Experience, Past Academic Performance (minimum cut-offs for Class X, XII and graduation) and any other criterion – 20 marks. Minimum cut off may be applied to PA components.
Female candidates and candidates with non-engineering background at graduation will be assigned a grace score of 30 marks.
Selection Criteria IIM Indore:
The institute accepts an overall CAT score of 90 percentile (Section 1: 85 and Section 2: 85). The final shortlist for is based on: Class X (17%) + Class XII (17%) + Bachelor’s degree (16%) + PI (35%) + WAT (15%). Get more details.
Selection Criteria IIM Kozhikode:
Past academic records along with a CAT percentile of 85 will help you make inroads to the second round at IIM-K. The institute will give 50% weightage to your CAT score. 20% weightage will be given to the Class X and Class XII marks and 10% to the graduation marks.
These marks will be standardized on the basis of the various disciplines across the boards. In each category, the top ranking candidates based on the index score will be called for the personal interview process.
Selection Criteria IIM Shillong:
Overall cut-off for CAT is around 90 percentile. Apart from prior academic record, valid CAT /GMAT score of the candidates are used for short-listing process for Personal Interview (PI). Merit list for final admission will be based on performance in CAT and PI.The exact criteria used to short-list candidates for PI will be disclosed on the IIM Shillong website and/or on the CAT website along with the list of short-listed candidates on or before January 14, 2014. Selection Criteria IIM Ranchi:
The institute will accept candidates with an overall CAT score of 97 percentile with at least 70.37 percentile in section I and 70.76 in section II. For final admissions, IIM Ranchi will consider your performance in CAT, GD/PI and profile to collate the final score. Under profile, you can get an advantage of up to 20 marks depending on your academic profile, work experience and performance in extra-curricular activities. Selection Criteria IIM Raipur:
The overall CAT cut-off percentile is 90 and the sectional cut-off is 70 each section. Final admission offer is based on CAT Score – 40% weightage + Personal Appearance – 40% weightage ((WAT- 10% and PI – 30%) + Profile – 20% weightage. Profile will be calculated on the basis of Academics (10th Standard, 12th Standard and UG) – 30% of Profile weight, Work experience – 30% of Profile weight and Diversity – 40% of Profile weight.
The batch size is likely to be around 120. Under diversity factor, the institute will award 20% to female candidates and academic diversity while collating the final results.
Selection Criteria IIM Udaipur:
The overall CAT cut-off percentile for eligibility in Personal Appearance (PA) process (WA and PI) is 90 and the sectional cut-off is 70 each section. The final selection process for 2014-16 batch will be based on CAT Score: 50% + Personal Appearance (PI & WA): 30% + Profile: 20%. Profile score will be calculated on the basis of Academic Profile: 40% (10th standard-10 marks, 12th standard – 10 marks and under graduation – 20 marks) + Work experience: 30% + Diversity: 30%. Selection Criteria IIM Trichy:
The overall CAT cut off is 80 and sectional cut off is 70. The minimum percentage that a candidate should obtain in Class X, XII and graduation is 70, 65 and 60, respectively. While compiling the final scores, candidates with a rich work experience can get a lead of maximum 5%. Marks for academic diversity are also proposed for non-engineers.
Selection Criteria IIM Kashipur:
The overall cut off for CAT stands at 75 percentile and sectional cut off at 70 percentile. The weightage given to CAT scores is 38. For the scores of Class X and Class XII, the weightage stands at one mark each. The graduation marks and diversity in academic discipline account for three marks each. The weightage for work experience and gender diversity is two marks each. The total shortlist weightage is 50.
