10 questions everyone asking about MAH MBA/MMS CET

MAH MBA/MMS CET, the examination for Admission to MBA programs offered by Mumbai, Pune and other Universities of Maharashtra, and their affiliated B schools will be conducted around mid March. Thousands of MBA aspirants will register for MAHCET amidst a lot of doubts and queries hovering in the minds of aspirants. Question 1: Mah CET is only for Maharashtra Students?MAH-CET-MBA CET DTE CETKING

Cetking: Thats a myth, any one in India can take CET there are seats reserved for maharashtra and non maharashtra students. Infact there are 12 centres outside maharashtra where students can give then exam.

Question 2: I am residing in Maharashtra. Do I have a preference?
Cetking: Yes and no…. Main problem in CET is not seat distribution but total seats being only 120 per college.
85% seats are reserved for maharashtra students and only 15% for non maharashtra students. sounds like a partiality? lets look deeper.
Mumbai students open seats are only 38 per college (most difficult competition)

Maharashtra students (pune nashik nagpur aurangabad) open seats are only 09 per college (nonsense competition)
Out side maharashtra / All India open seats are only 18 per college (easiest or least competition)

Question 3: I am a Non-Maharashtra candidate. Can I and where can I take CET?
Cetking: Students outside the state of Maharashtra are in a fix if they can take the test, and do they stand a fair chance. As a Non Maharashtra candidate, you indeed stand a good chance as 18 seats in MMS are there in every college (except JBIMS) and 120 all open seats (no state reservation) in PGDM seats in every college.
If Non Maharashtra candidate wish to appear in MAH CET, they dont need to go to Maharashtra to take the test. There will be 34 examination centres in Maharashtra and 12 centres outside Maharashtra can be opted in order of preference to indicate the choice of centres Ahmedabad (Gujrat); Bengluru (Karnataka); Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh); Jaipur (Rajasthan); Kolkata (West Bengal); Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh); New Delhi (Delhi); Panji (Goa); Patna (Bihar); Raipur (Chattisgarh); Ranchi (Jharkhand) and Shrinagar (Jammu and Kashmir).

Question 4: When can I register for MAHCET?
Cetking: Registration to MAHCET normally opens in Jan, yes normally that late, just a month before the exam. It is better to register early as technical glitches at the last moment might create problems. Aspirants have to register on line on exam controller authority – DTE.org.in website site.

Question 5: What are the application fees for MAH CET?
Cetking: Application Fees for Open Category Candidates from Maharashtra State, Outside Maharashtra State (OMS), J & K Migrant candidates and NRI/Foreign Nationals, / PIO/Children of Indian Workers in the Gulf Countries Candidates = Rs. 1000
For Candidates of Backward Class Categories [SC, ST, VJ/DT- NT(A), NT(B), NT(C), NT(D), OBC, SBC] and & Persons with Disability Candidates belonging to Maharashtra State only = Rs. 800

Question 6: Why should I apply to Maharashtra based colleges and take CET?
Cetking: No, no one is forcing you to apply. But consider the ROI of colleges – top 5 colleges in CET have fees of average 5 lacs and salary of more than 10 lacs. which makes them very attractive option for everyone. Delhi colleges have low ROI – average 15 lacs fees. (excluding FMS)

Question 7: How many b schools will accept MAHCET scores. Can you name a few? Where can I find the complete list?
Cetking: Imagine there are 56 Bschools in delhi and one day they decide to come together and take only one common exam and gdpi.. (like engineering state level cap rounds) wont that be ideal and save loads of money in admission fees itself? So similar thing happened in maharashtra like engineering they have combined all 406 institutes with a total of 45,621 seats together and they wil accept MAH-MBA / MMS-CET 2014 for admission to their MBA/MMS courses in Maharashtra. A few of them are JBIMS, SIMSREE, Welingkar, KJ Somaiya, SIES, PuMBA and Dalmia.

Question 8: Do I have to apply individually to all the institutes where I want to be considered for admission?
Cetking: It is not necessary. Institute will be allotted through the Centralized Admission Process (CAP). Candidate will have to contact the institute to confirm the admission after that. The candidates applying to institute level/minority seats should apply directly to the institute.
The Centralized Admission Process will consist of total four rounds, out of which first three rounds shall be based on computerized allotment and last round by counseling. Candidates are advised to keep the necessary documents ready at the time of Document verification stage at ARC as per the notified schedule.

Question 9: I am outside maharashtra student, I appeared in CAT and XAT and now I am going to appear in CMAT. Do I have to appear in MAHCET also to seek admission in B schools like JBIMS, SIMSREE, Welingkar, KJ Somaiya, etc?
Cetking: If you have appeared in any of the All India management entrance test like CAT, XAT, CMAT, ATMA, you don’t need to appear again in MAHCET. But, it is mandatory to register for it to participate in MAHCET Centralized Admission Process (CAP). It is not compulsory to appear in MAH CET if you have appeared for nationally recognized tests like CAT/XAT/CMAT/MAT/ATMA. Your score of All India CET will be valid for the admission.

Question 10: What are the components of MAHCET exam, duration and pattern?
Cetking: MAH-MBA/MMS CET shall be conducted online. There will be 200 multiple choice objective type questions (MCQs). MAH CET will be of 150 minutes duration test. Maximum marks awarded will be 200 meaning 1 mark per correct answer. There will be multiple sessions on second sunday of March. No penalty of negative marking for any wrong answer will be imposed. Candidates will not have any fear of losing marks on this count.
