4. Post Graduate Diploma in Management – Retail Management
The retail industry in India is being hailed as one of the sunrise sectors in the economy. AT Kearney, the well-known interna-tional management consultancy firm, in its 2011 edition, has ranked India 4th in Global Retail Development Index (GRDI); indi-cating that the country is one of the most attractive market for global retailers to enter. According to the GRDI published by AT Kearney, India’s strong growth fundamentals—9 percent real GDP growth in 2010; forecasted yearly growth of 8.7 percent through 2016; high saving and investment rates; fast labor force growth; and increased consumer spending—make for a very favorable re-tail environment.

The ever changing business scenario and widespread leadership crunch has highlighted the need for better trained managers who are functionally competent and have a global business perspective. Growing expectations of organizations from managers to act and perform as leaders and entrepreneurs in their roles has further heightened the need for training middle level managers in the new concepts and practices.

The PGDM- Exec Program enables line / functional managers to take on general management responsibilities by providing them with cross functional exposure and training.

Program Structure:
• The program has been designed to help professionals develop a holistic perspective about the business world.
• The first two terms comprise core courses that form the foundation of a management program.
• Terms III and IV comprise a mix of core and elective subjects. The compulsory subjects help build the management perspective while the electives hone the technical skills of a student.
• A student will be given the option to major in any one / two areas or to be a generalist. Students will be asked to select a minimum number of electives in each term and they can opt for electives in their area of interest.
