Sentence 2 has Marx (short Form) and sentence 3 has Karl Marx (Full form). So 3 will come before 2. Now in given options A and B and C, we can clearly see that 2 is placed before 3 and hence we reject option A, B and C which leaves us with only option D which is the correct option.

The clue to this question comes from the word ‘calculable’ in sentence 2: So the actual risk to outsiders, though no doubt higher than our societies, is calculable.
How does something become ‘calculable’? Sentence 1 gives the answer through the phrase ‘clearly defined theory’. (Clonazepam)
Something becomes calculable when it is clearly defined in theory. No other sentence could give answers to ‘calculable’.
Therefore, the link 12 was clearly marked. The link 12 is present in option A only Therefore option A is the answer.

Tricks to successfully solve Para-Jumbles

1. IZZAT! Understand the central theme:

The best way to solve Para jumbles is by developing high reading speed and by scanning all the options available. Try getting the feel of what the passage is talking about. This will keep you in the right direction.

2. Keep a check on chronology of events:

In a few questions, the events mentioned in the paragraph can be arranged in a chronological order and it becomes easier to logically construct a paragraph. The events are usually mentioned in ascending or descending order of their occurrence.

3. Keep reviewing the options:

Now, suppose you have 4 sentences A B C D. Based on chronological order, you know that A and B will appear in the order BA. Now scan the available options and match:

a) DABC (b) ACDB (c) CBAD (d) DBAC.

Now you know that the correct answer is either (c) or (d). Choose the best option out of these two.

4. Look for articles

You can spot 2 types of articles in parajumbles

Definite articles like “the”
Indefinite articles like “a and an”

‘The’ is generally used when some person/place or event is being talked about for the second or 3rd time. First time introductions are usually made with the help of ‘a/an’. So, the sentence containing ‘the’ is most likely to come after the sentence containing a/an.

5. Look out for pronouns

Pronouns like he, she, they, it, them, their, him, her, can be easily spotted in parajumbled sentences. Such pronouns are always used when the person being talked about has already been introduced. So sentence with pronoun is most likely NOT the first sentence.

6. Look out for transition words

When you see a transition word in a sentence, be 90% sure that this sentence is not the first sentence.

Transition words are used in connecting a particular idea to the next. Here is a list for your reference:

also
again
as well as
after all
for example
for instance
in short
likewise otherwise
subsequently
hence
simultaneously

7. Look out for abbreviations

Short forms or abbreviations trick is useful in paragraphs where both these things are present. In cases of para jumbles, where both full form and abbreviations are present in different sentences, in that case the sentence containing the full form will come before the sentence containing the abbreviation.

Here is an example:

  1. Post offices and Public sector banks could supplement micro-credit institutions in this regard.
  2. They are trusted institutions, and have already built up credit and savings channels for the poor.
  3. In a recent paper, Wouter Van Ginneken of the International Labor Organization has argued that micro-finance institutions could play an important role in providing social security.
  4. To overcome this weakness, Ginneken suggests that micro-credit organizations should outsource the insurance part of their business.
  5. But one problem is that most micro-credit institutions are small and lack expertise in the insurance business.

Solution:

Sentence C should be the opening sentence because it clearly mentions the name of the person, Wouter Van Ginneken and his argument.

It is essential to note that the Para Jumble is about the institutions, not Ginneken.

Hence sentence B with pronoun ‘they’ referring to the institutions should come after C. They go on to give more information about micro-finance institutions.

Sentences A and D talk about some solutions.

So sentence E which poses the problem should come before them.
Between A and D, statement D will clearly come first, because it is a suggestion for solving the problem and the method of solving it is in sentence A.

Therefore the order is C-B-E-D-A.
