Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) is an autonomous university, established in 1981, with a prolific legacy of 34 years. Currently, this multidisciplinary university not only features in the top-10 B-schools in India but has also been awarded a “Five Star” rating and an “A” grade by the NAAC and UGC respectively, as well as an impressive “A***” rating by CRISIL. This institute was granted a “Deemed University” status by the UGC in 2003 and thus it has the authority to grant full academic degrees to its students.

NMIMS comprises of four campuses spread across Mumbai, Shirpur, Bengaluru and Hyderabad; and offers a wide range of courses across diverse fields such as Management, Engineering, Pharmacy, Architecture, Commerce, Business Economics, Science, Law, Aviation and Distance Learning. It includes a dedicated faculty of over 430 fulltime faculty members and over 200 visiting faculty, abundant in academic and industry experience. The Mumbai campus of NMIMS is located in Vile Parle, an affluent suburb of Mumbai, in a large complex of over 40000 sq feet.

 

The facilities provided by the institute include the library, class rooms, cafeteria, hostel facilities, research labs and so on. The institute’s hostel facilities constitute two full fledged hostels and three rented residential accommodations(maintained by the university itself) in Mumbai, separately for boys and girls. Students are provided with all the necessary facilities in the hostel along with some value added services. Hostel fee may vary every year. NMIMS provides excellent online services majorly to save time of students enable them to grow and develop in the desired areas. This would also train students about the online medium.The electronic resources include access to vast corporate database that covers numerous listed and unlisted companies, trend analysis, funds flow, financial ratios and economic statistics.

 

NMIMS focusses on the overall personality development of the student, i.e. a combination of both academic and co-curricular skill sets. Grooming the students to adapt, survive and flourish in the highly competitive and complex corporate environment, as well as training them to face the heterogeneous work-related challenges are some of the primary objectives of this institute. The students are also encouraged to broaden their horizon in their visionary, entrepreneurial and leadership skills, apart from developing the requisite management skills. NMIMS also encourages its students to undertake work experience.

 

An entrance exam called NMAT is required to be appeared for by the students aspiring to pursue their MBA degree in NMIMS. Those students who make the cut in the NMAT entrance exam are then called for a group discussion, and the candidates thus shortlisted are undertaken for a personal interview.

 

NMIMS has an excellent placement record. Leading companies from diverse fields such as Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, ICICI Bank, Vodafone, Microsoft, Wipro etc. have proved to be loyal recruiters, picking a good number of students from this institute. The average salary offered currently is Rs. 16.51 lakh per annum, which is around 8% higher than last year.
