  1. Introduction and Abbreviations:

Like most of the state funded colleges some seats are reserved for their state domiciled students and few seats are kept aside for Other state students.

Home University – like student from Mumbai for mumbai colleges

OHU – Outside Home University – like pune student for mumbai colleges

OMS / AI – Non Maharastra Students / All India Seats – like delhi student applying for mumbai colleges

  1. OMS or All India Seats

Students can apply for OMS seats (18 seats, 15%) through CMAT feb, CMAT Sept or CET (March) scores. Maharashtra students (HU, OHU) can also apply through CMAT scores for these OMS seats.

  1. Where will be the exam conducted

MBA CET is conducted in 34 examination centres in Maharashtra or 12 centres outside Maharashtra can be opted in order of preference to indicate the choice of centres -Ahmedabad (Gujrat); Bengluru (Karnataka); Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh); Jaipur (Rajasthan); Kolkata (West Bengal); Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh); New Delhi (Delhi); Panji (Goa); Patna (Bihar); Raipur (Chattisgarh); Ranchi (Jharkhand) and Shrinagar (Jammu and Kashmir).

  1. Why should I apply to Maharashtra based colleges

No, no one is forcing you to apply. Obviously if you score well in CAT you will get into IIMs but if CAT is screwed up than CET becomes good option. Consider the ROI of colleges – top 5 colleges in CET have fees of average 3.5 lacs and salary of more than 10 lacs. which makes them very attractive option for everyone. Delhi colleges have low ROI – average 15 lacs fees. (excluding FMS)

  1. Top b schools will accept MAHCET scores:

Cetking: Imagine there are 56 Bschools in delhi and one day they decide to come together and take only one common exam and gdpi.. (like engineering state level cap rounds) wont that be ideal and save loads of money in admission fees itself? So similar thing happened in maharashtra like engineering they have combined all 406 institutes with a total of 45,621 seats together and they wil accept MAH-MBA / MMS-CET 2014 for admission to their MBA/MMS courses in Maharashtra. A few of top Bschools are JBIMS, SIMSREE, Welingkar, KJ Somaiya, SIES, PuMBA and Dalmia.

  1. Centralised Application

Cetking: for example in Delhi application to mdi iift iit delhi are all separate ie individually you have to buy forms. But in Maharashtra all state institute will be allotted through the Centralized Admission Process (CAP). Candidate will have to contact the institute to confirm the admission after that. The candidates applying to institute pgdm seats should apply directly to the institute.

The Centralized Admission Process will consist of total four rounds, out of which first three rounds shall be based on computerized allotment and last round by counseling. Candidates are advised to keep the necessary documents ready at the time of Document verification stage at ARC as per the notified schedule.

  1. I am outside maharashtra student, I appeared in CAT and XAT and now I am going to appear in CMAT. Do I have to appear in MAHCET also to seek admission in B schools like JBIMS, SIMSREE, Welingkar, KJ Somaiya, etc?

Cetking: If you have appeared in any of the All India management entrance test like CAT, XAT, CMAT, ATMA, you don’t need to appear again in MAHCET. But, it is mandatory to register for it to participate in MAHCET Centralized Admission Process (CAP). It is not compulsory to appear in MAH CET if you have appeared for nationally recognized tests like CAT/XAT/CMAT/MAT/ATMA. Your score of All India CET will be valid for the admission.

  1. What are the components of MAHCET exam, duration and pattern?

Cetking: MAH-MBA/MMS CET shall be conducted online. There will be 200 multiple choice objective type questions (MCQs). MAH CET will be of 150 minutes duration test. Maximum marks awarded will be 200 meaning 1 mark per correct answer. There will be multiple sessions on second sunday of March. No penalty of negative marking for any wrong answer will be imposed. Candidates will not have any fear of losing marks on this count

  1. Where to prepare from for MBA CET

Cet paper is very different from the CAT and other exams. So preparing from CAT books will be suicidal. You can buy cetking online programs shortcuts books and / or mocks or in classroom (mumbai and pune). call 09594441448 for online programs or visit courses.cetking.com for buying online.

  1. Cutoffs for OMS / All India candidates

Yes cutoffs for oms candidates are 10 marks higher than the maharashtra students. for example mumbai student needs 135 marks for jbims while OMS students would need 145 marks out of 200 for jbims.
