SNAP 2017 form filling which colleges to apply

Unlike cat where it’s common fees for all IIMs, snap charges separate fees for all their colleges.. And we are not that rich to tick mark all 10 colleges.. So we should wisely choose and apply to 3 or 5 colleges only..

Now gut feel says let’s tick mark top three/ four only ie

Siib / Sibm Bangalore
But let me clarify that cuttoffs for top 3 colleges is quite high..

Sibm .. 80 marks.. need 99%ile ..
Scmhrd.. 75 marks.. 96%ile approx
Siib.. 70 marks.. 90%ile..

Not everyone is going to get 99%ile..  let’s take an example of a student who is scoring only 40 marks in his mocks.. So why to waste his money by applying to Sibm when he is nvr gonna make it to that level.. It’s better for him to apply for other colleges where atleast he stands a chance..

Now how will I know.. Which colleges to apply based on my skillset rather than college ranking..

So let’s take step by step approach to know where we stand as today.. We will do that by taking following steps:

1. Take snap mock
2. Look at the picture below and see which college you can get
3. Check if college you are getting is worth going for or not… And apply..
4. Now start working hard for snap exam

Step 1:

Take a snap mock..
You hav not yet started ur prep.. So make no sense to take a tough mock.. Rather than giving any mock you should take Snap 2010 paper.. It was decent level difficult so that we can actually know where we stand..  As of today.. And provided we improve where can we reach..

Download the paper here>>>

Step 2:
Look at matrix below and see which colleges are in our range of cutoffs according to the snap mock we took…. >>>>

College Composite Score
General SC ST J&K
SIBM, Pune 80 58 44 70
SCMHRD 75 55 40 65
SIBM, Bangalore 70 40 26 61
SIIB, Pune 70 37 26 56
SIOM, Nasik 65 30 20 38
SITM 62 34 24 42
SCIT 58 23 13 31
SSBF 58 24 14 32
SICSR 52 11 2 23

Step 3:

This is a decision making step.. Now decide according to the college you hav selected if u wish to apply or not. Example 1 – If you scored 100 in this mock.. Make no sense to apply for low rung colleges..

Example 2- if you scored 40 marks.. And u are sure that u cannot touch 100 marks and Sibm is beyond reach than apply to colleges below that.. Or u might decide to skip snap itself ..

Step 4:
Now quickly apply and start to preparing for the exam.. Improve yourself and try to a better score.. Snap is all about speed and strategies.. You can join our snap shortcuts and mock strategy workshops online and in class…

SNAP Analysis: An Analysis on SNAP paper.
This year the test takers found the General Awareness section to be on higher side of difficulty and Analytical & Logical Reasoning was tough as well. The exam consisted of 3 sections i.e Quantitative Ability, General English and General Awareness having 40 questions of 1 mark each. While Analytical and Logical Reasoning section had 30 questions of 2 marks each. The English section of the exam was the easiest. It was not expected but the questions were easy and fun to answer. The overall difficulty level of the exam did not vary much from that of the previous SNAP exams. The best way to maximize one’s score would have been to select questions judiciously and read quickly.

The analysis of SNAP paper of each of the sections is as given below:

1) Quant in SNAP paper:
This section was dominated by arithmetic and modern mathematics. The difficulty level of this section was easy but lengthy. There was one DI set with five questions, basedon a pie chart. Additionally, there were two questions on sequences. There was no question on data sufficiency. Time & Distance topic had a lot of questions. A majority of the questions in this section were of an easy to moderate level of difficulty. However, a few questions on modern mathematics, especially those on logarithms and probability, were somewhat tricky. Therefore judicious selection of questions was of utmost importance. It has been observed that over the last two years, the level of difficulty of the Quantitative Ability section in SNAP has gone up.

2) Verbal in SNAP exam:
This section was a mix of Verbal Abilities and Reading Comprehension. Among the Verbal Ability area, there were several types of questions asked in the format of Fill in the blanks. There were about 14 pure vocabulary questions, 16 grammar questions, 9 RC questions and 1 verbal reasoning question. About 18 questions were very easy, 11 were of a moderate level and 11 were challenging. It was very important not to keep pondering over questions that were confusing and instead be decisive. Though students prefer to avoid RC, this time the RC questions were much simpler than many other questions. For the longer passage, reading one paragraph at a time and solving one question alongside helped as the questions were in the same order as their answers were in the passage and one could save spending time on scanning. In 25-30 minutes, one could go through all the questions and attempt about 30 questions with 80% accuracy.

3) Logical Reasoning in SNAP paper :
Overall, the level of difficulty of the logical reasoning questions could be termed as moderate, not easy. The total number of questions in the Analytical & Logical Reasoning(LR) section was 30. Each question carrying 2 marks. The topics were on the usual areas of the Analytical & Logical Reasoning section are as follows:
-Coding-Decoding 5 questions
-Letter Number-Series 5 questions
-Venn diagram 5 questions
-Cubes 3 questions
-Facts Inference Judgment (FIJ) 2 questions
-Blood Relations 5 questions
-Odd Man Out 2 questions
-Verbal Analogy 2 questions
-Arrangement based 10 questions

4) General Awareness GK in SNAP exam
The General Awareness section had 40 questions and had 1 mark for each question. The difficulty level of the section was difficult. This section contained a mixture of questions from various areas (politics, government, awards and personalities, sports etc). There were about 31 questions based on static GK and 9 based on current affairs. Most of questions were based on world affairs, while some had to do with national affairs. About 12 questions would have been very simple for someone who had prepared for SNAP GK, 13 would have been moderately challenging and about 15 would have been tough. So, in 10 to 15 minutes students should have been able to attempt 18 to 20 questions with about 70% accuracy.

How to prepare for SNAP:
For the preperation of SNAP, first we have to understand the paper pattern of SNAP and according to it we shall make strategies to crack it. So there are different strategies for different sections i.e Quant, Verbal, Logical Reasoning(LR) and GK.

How to prepare for Quant And DI for SNAP 2016 exam
The important topics in this section are Time and Work, Mixtures and Alligations, Ratio and Proportion, Percentages,
Time and Distance, Averages and Profit, Loss and Discount, Geometry and Mensuration. One should try to focus on these ares.
DI is easy in SNAP as compared to IIFT, XAT and CAT.
Overall, one should try to attempt more than 25 questions within 20 to 25 minutes.

Verbal section preparation for SNAP exam
This is an easy section in SNAP and features a host of vocabulary questions, grammar questions and short RC passages. In the last couple of years, only few RC questions have appeared in this section and mainly they are asking vocabulary questions. So every SNAP aspirant is advised to learn and revise as many words as possible. SNAP papers setters’ favourite thing is ‘Kangaroo Words’. A kangaroo word is one that contains letters of another word with the same meaning. For example:- The word allocate contains the word allot.
Overall, one should try to attempt more than 30 questions within 20 to 25 minutes.

Logical Reasoning for SNAP paper
This is probably the most important section of the exam as it carries 2 marks for each question. Keeping this in mind, it becomes a vital section to help you clear your cut-offs. This section is a mixture of questions from diverse areas such as: critical reasoning, analogies, logical reasoning sets, series, visual reasoning, arrangement, blood relations, puzzles etc.
Overall, one should try to attempt 20-25 questions in this section.
