Psychometric-Tests What you need to know about Psychometric test? Welingkar institute of management, development and research, Mumbai has its own unique process of selecting candidates for the 2nd stage of GD-PI. They not only consider the scores of various exams like CAT, XAT, MH-CET, ATMA, and CMAT, but also make use of P3T test. A P3T test is a simple psychometric, personality assessment test. Psychometric testing is an age old method being used by several organisations to measure certain personality traits of an individual before they accept them in their organisation. Psychometrics is the field of study concerned with the theory and technique of psychological measurement, which includes the measurement of knowledge, abilities, attitudes, and personality traits. In simple words a psychometric test helps the evaluator in judging an individual’s ability to perform a task.  Also it will help in finding information about you which an interview would’nt be able to do. psycho   The link for the P3T test was available on the Welinkar website- www.welingkar.org from 28.03.2016 to 1.04.2016. The test could be taken by the candidate by logging in using their form number and password between 10.00 a.m to 8.00 p.m. The test consisted of 60 MCQs. The time limit to complete the test was 40 minutes. There were 6 sections, each consisting of 10 questions. Most of the questions had 5 options in the answer choices and a few included 2 answer choices as well. There was no time limit for any section. One could switch from one section to another as per their wish. The test could not be submitted before the completion of 40 minutes. The questions could be easily answered by the candidate within the time span of 40 minutes. The questionaire was extremely simple and totally based on the personality traits of an individual. One example of the questions and the answer choices is as follows: Q- Do you often find yourself lagging behind in a time bound task? Ans- 1. True

This is a typical example of the kind of questions asked. Some other questions were- As a team leader, do you encourage your team members for innovative ideas and inputs? , Do you have friends of different cultures and ethnicities in your friend circle? ,etc. Some answer options included a scale like agree, strongly agree, disagree, strongly disagree, neutral. In some questions the candidates saw answer option like ‘there are no right or wrong answer’. There were no questions based on numeric ability. However, the test included 5 questions that were to be answered based on a small passage. The passage was very simple and could be easily answered by the candidates without much difficulty. The questions were to be answered according to the facts given in the passage. The scores of the test were not revealed to the candidates after the completion of the test. The candidates could only view the start and end time of the test and the attempts in the history section. It is extremely important to answer the questions honestly in a psychometric test. One can take time and approach the test logically, for it will help in a better assessment of their personality and increase the chances of their selection to the institute.
