Points that will help you see clear picture of CAT
IIM B is famous for going in opposite direction from IIM A. So will definitely create ripples while setting paper pattern for CAT 2022.
Right now its too early to speculate about the pattern of the exam or difficulty but we can do some predictions.
1. Subjective questions
Subjective TITA questions always created a stir among students. This year IIM B might want to reduce the number of TITA subjective questions as they create confusion in marking scheme as well.
2. Number of questions
66 is a good number of questions for any exam but if IIM B want to change, they can change the number of questions to 75 or 60. Thus increasing the importance of each question giving more choice to students and maintain balance of equal number of questions in each section.
3. Time for the exam
During Covid IIM Indore changed the timing to 2 hours of the CAT Exam. So if IIMB wants to change it, 3 hours or 180 minutes will be a lot to ask for from a student. CAT can be changed to 120 or a 150 minutes format. This will give more time to students to solve questions.
4. Slots / windows to take exam
Since Coivd, Last two years CAT is conducted in 3 slots. If IIM B want to change that this year windows / slots could be increased to 4 slots over 2 days. As final year students struggle to jiggle their cat prep, college attendance and College exams. At least a 2 days window can give them a sigh of relief.
5. Level of difficulty
IIM B will be definitely change the level of difficulty of the exam as compared to last year. Looking at the history of the exam….Cetking expects following changes from CAT 2022 exam.
Quant– same level as last year (Difficult to medium)
Logic– decrease in level of difficulty to (medium to difficult)
Verbal– slight increase in level of difficulty (easy to medium)
However all these changes might be cosmetic changes and will not effect your preparation. We might have to adjust mock taking strategies which can be finalized later on.
ALL THE BEST!!!
