How to achieve the precious placement?
Achieving placement is the dream of many but does entering a business school guarantee you a top class placement. Not really. Business School can provide the platform for you to exhibit your talent by calling companies for recruitment but the conversion is in your court. The article looks at the key aspects one need to work on to achieve the precious placement.
1) Communication Skills
Communication Skills play an deciding role in cracking Group discussions and Personal Interview and it should be your foreground in which you should have marvelous command ,Even the Management entrances of MBA use these tools so that one is able to showcase these skills even before MBA and has a comfort in tackling such rounds.
2) FOCUS on USP of the College
You need to identify what is the strength of the college and which area has been a strong zone for the students of that institution, If you aspire to do an MBA in HR and even the college specializes in HR then its a cherry on the cake for you.
3) Connection with Seniors / Alumni
You need to connect with the seniors and form a great camaraderie with them as they are an strong influence in the college. Even in the future having that connect with the alumni helps one in always being a strong professional who can rely on his/her connections whenever there is a risk in the current position one is in.
4) Subject Knowledge
Subject knowledge is one of the most important aspect which looks at whether one has actually been an active pursuer of the academics or is just a one who is there in the b school for the sake of just doing a MBA degree and attaining that title.
5) Live Projects : A minimum of 3
One needs to have a minimum of 3 live projects into his/her kitty to prove that they have an insight of practical exposure and understand the real world business rather than just being a theoretically active candidate. Live projects are a good opportunity for MBA students to nurture conceptual, analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills. 6) Summer Internships and PPO’s
The Summer Internships play a primary role of converting your aspirations into reality in the initial phase of your MBA. During the internship which is typically of 3 month period , if one is able to impress the recruiter with his/her skills and dedication then the intern may get the Pre placement offer which more or less serves the purpose of spending so much money on an MBA degree.
7)..Academic Consistency with >= 60%
The bare minimum criteria which majority of the top tier companies have is to possess an aggregate score of 60% or more in 10th,12th,Graduation and even MBA. This has to be maintained if you want to sit in the placement process. Academic consistency is the initial factor which any recruiter looks at usually.
8) Experience: Not the deciding factor
Work experience is important but it cannot be considered as an deciding factor of one attaining a placement. Definitely people with prior work experience tend to get a slightly better package but not having a work experience and being a fresher does make an larger impact.
9) Aptitude
One has to hone his aptitude skills as Outstanding aptitude can be considered “talent”. There are aptitude test taken by some companies ,which one needs to clear in order to qualify for placements. An aptitude may be physical or mental. Aptitude is inborn potential to do certain kinds of work whether developed or undeveloped. Ability is developed knowledge, understanding, learnt or acquired abilities or attitude.
10) Current Affairs through Newspaper,Browsing.Blogs
You need to know basics of of all the key areas such as Artificial Intelligence,Current Affairs , emerging technology trends along with a strong hold on the academic syllabus of the MBA program. The important role of current affairs can be evident with the various eligibility criteria adopted by the job sector, where individuals are hired based on their knowledge of their surroundings
