Linguistic Minority Seats in MBA CET
The Bombay HC has directed the Maharashtra government and University of Mumbai to keep minority quota seats in unaided professional colleges. As per the law, private, unaided minority colleges are allowed to fill 51% of the seats with students from specific linguistic or religious minority. Rules say that institutions that fail to admit a minimum 51% of its sanctioned intake with students from the minority concerned for three consecutive years are liable for action under the National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions Act. But Mumbai University has issued a circular that says the vacant minority quota seats have to be filled with students from other minorities.
Admissions under the linguistic minority category will be done at the institute level is based on merit, on the basis of CET score and as per the guidelines laid down by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Mumbai. – Any other linguistic minority as notified by the Govt. of Maharashtra.
– Religious minority as notified by the Govt. of Maharashtra.
