International trips are very common for MBAs, Most common ones are:
1. Projects and Assignments
Sending employees on short term trips is most common way to travel abroad usually these trips are client sponsored.
2. Client Meetings
Indian companies can shell any amount of money to send employees anywhere in the name of client meetings. So travelling abroad is very common on Business Visa like B1 Tourist/Business Visa to USA.
3. Incentive Rewards
These days its very common to send employees on international trips with foriengn trips as rewards. Maldives Srilanka and Malaysia are most prefered locations.
4. Conferences
Sending staff on quarterly and annual conferences is very common these days. International conferences are organised in exotic locations by agencies and third party exhibitions.
5. Stop over trips
When going long haul flight you can ask travel agents (if your company permits obviously) to give a longer layover time at the stop over destination. Example I stopped over at Austria while going to London.
6. Self sponsored day trips to new country
Imagine you are in Switzerland for work, If you are in Zurich you are 1 hour away by road to Germany so can easily take a road trip / train (local travel) to the new country. Similarly, Geneva is close to France and Zermatt is close to Italy.
