IIM Ahmedabad has revised its selection criteria for the full-time, residential PGP (MBA) 2027–29 batch. This policy was reported on 6 October 2026; this Cetking article explains an earlier change and is not a new November announcement.
Does the new IIM Ahmedabad admission policy increase your chances of getting into IIMA?
What changed in shortlisting? The CAT 2026 overall percentile replaces the normalised CAT score in the shortlisting composite. The raw composite combines 65% of the normalised total CAT percentile (expressed as a fraction of 100) with 35% of the normalised Application Rating. IIMA then normalises the resulting composite within undergraduate disciplines. The Application Rating includes past academic performance, full-time work experience and gender-diversity factors as defined in the admission policy.
What matters in final selection? The final composite gives 50% to the normalised personal interview score, 10% to the analytical writing test (AWT), and 40% to the normalised composite score.
Minimum CAT 2026 cutoffs for applicants without benchmark disabilities: General/EWS 95 overall and 85 sectional; NC-OBC 90 overall and 80 sectional; SC 85 overall and 75 sectional; ST 75 overall and 65 sectional. Separate PwD thresholds apply. These are eligibility minima, not assured interview calls.
What should aspirants do? Read the institute's latest official PGP admission policy and check the relevant category cutoffs, discipline, academics, work-experience rules and CAT preparation. Strong test performance alone does not guarantee a shortlist or admission.
