Chetana PG-DM GDPI Experiences
All those who have applied for Chetana PGDM courses can post your reviews and experiences here.
Follow this post to clarify all your doubts pertaining Chetana PG GDPI…..
- I attended Chetana’s GD-PI on 11th July for PGDM course.
GD topic: Progress comes with intelligent use of experience.
There were 17 ppl in our group seated in a semi-circle with 2 moderators sitting in front of us. We were given 2 mins to assimilate our thoughts. After that ppl started speaking chaotically. After around 10-15 mins the moderators asked the silent participants to speak for 2 mins each. At the end, each was asked to conclude on the topic for max 1 min, without repeating points which have already been discussed.
PI:
My PI panel had 2 mid-aged women. They were super cool.
1st qn: Tell us about yourself.
2nd qn: Why do you want to shift from B-Tech Electrical to MBA?
3rd qn: What changes would you like to bring about in the core electrical sector after your MBA degree? (I was asked this based on my prev qns answer)
4th qn: What specialization would you opt for in MBA?
5th qn: Don’t you think your CMAT score is low?
Post more on Chetana PG GDPI experiences and follow this page for the latest updates.
*How to tackle DALMIA. My strategy STAY HUNGRY but DON’T BE FOOLISH*
After listening so many students as predicated and said by us (CETKING) Dalmia did this time again.
- Unnecessary grilling of people applied for dalmia
2. Worthless questions and torture
3. more towards stress interview
4. Scenarios based questions
5. Ridiculous questions like Formula of Inflation? Seriously ???????
Anyway I think it’s the frustration of this college as it’s a self proclaimed best in finance.
How to tackle:
- *Go easy on the panel* Don’t let them know that your are loosing on them
- *Stay calm and cool* Let it be any question in finance. You now it answer it, you don’t know say you got damn don’t it period
- If the question is open ended, *don’t dare to ask the question to the panel* For example; how do you analyse the financial statements of the company? So don’t ask them company of which sector. Ideally it makes hell lot of sense to do that. But we won’t do it and will answer, Alright so if I am analysing a company from e-commerce and the main parameters I’ll look at blah blah ……. understood ?
- How you’ll invest 10 lacs ?? Seriously had I known this i wouldn’t have been here start with the basic security fundamental. *Talk diversification of risk via portfolio management 20% Blue Chip stocks 70% Debt Market so and so forth. Kindly don’t say FD and all*
- *Engineers are the main target* please don’t say I love number crunching and all that crap. If you know any CETKING student do ask him/her they’ll give you the best answer as we have shared the same in the classroom
- Current affairs and international economical happenings in last 2 years is a must know factor
- *Be sweet to them* Keep a snails on your face and answer the questions.
- *Be practical* If they say you don’t know certain things, tell them that’s why I would love to do an MBA. To enhance and empower myself blah blah
- They are focusing more on WHY FINANCE. Honestly, you got to know this. But simple *YOU CANT CONVINCE THEM, CONFUSE THEM* Here to massage their ego and status I would advise you guys focus more on why Finance from Dalmia so and so forth. It’s a risk you got to take.
- Be good with basic banking and finance terms. And for heaven sakes if you don’t know but *don’t give any GOLI.* You know these guys are freak they’ll take your case if you give GOLI.
- *Don’t give up* If you don’t know something either say I don’t if you don’t wana say that then say Sir would you mind if I take a guess at it ?
- *Be Besharam* they’ll persuade you to go back to your same domain like IT MARKETING and all that, but you’ll only sing one song ‘I want to do an MBA’ they actually checking how badly you want it. So don’t fall in the trap.
I wish you all the very best. You have worked hard for it guys let’s not anyone spoil it.Go for the kill guys..!!

All those who have applied for PGDM in Dalmia take some time out and Post your Dalmia GDPI eperiences here…
Varsha Dalmia
to start with i first had essay writing, essay topic was “should sport bodies be allowed to be headed by poltical leaders?” we get 15 minutes to write and max 200 words…. then i had gd, my gd topic was ” can business be ethical?” 5 mins to jot down your points, 15 mins for discussion and 30 sec each to summarise.. my gd went ok types.
for pi i had panel one, dean himself and prof bhatia, prof bhatia is considered to be the god of finance by seniors. dean is very nice, and i heard proff. bhatia asks completely technical ques, luckily in my time he had to leave for some work. the dean asked me about capital budgeting and seriously if you dont know the ans, tell you dont know, he would explain you..
Monish Kamdar

Vikas Sundaram
Hey guys..finally done with the GD/PI
1) we had to get our doucments verified which hardly took 5 minutes
2 ) In essay writting 15 mins were given ,topic -the impact of electronic media on the psyche of indian youth
3) for GD there were 12 candidates and the topic was FDI retail in India- a boon or bane, the topic was quite gud but 12 candidates and 12 mins to speak it was bcoming a fish market ,for such a big group i think more time shud hav been given for discussion and in the end every one was given 30 secs to summarize
4 ) PI-this was a bit dreadful …Since i had IT experience i was asked difference between Struts & hibernate, serialisation etc , hobbies and then since i had told i wanted to do MBA in finance i was asked y finance, interest coverage ratio, treynor’s ratio , BASEL III so PI was quite grilling nw lets see wat happens and yeah results will be out on June 18th ,2pm

another 5-6 mins were spent talking bout my family, college, etc.next was essay writing: ancient Indian epicsGD was a very short topic
“parenting is the single most important factor for the growth of a child during his adolescence”
was’nt as good as other gds, how many different points could 12 ppl gather for such a useless topic.same points were repeated n no. of times.
anyone pls let them know we’re going for mgmt course and not for a degree in social service.
volunteers were very helpful, all in all a pleasant experience, except for tht silly topic of gd.
good luck to all you aspiring chaps.!!!!! - Dalmia GDPI is fun …. :D..I had my GD/PI today. I guess it went well. It a long process & could have been cut short . d management also gives u a coupon for a meal worth Rs 70. u can use this in canteen. But d problem is that canteen is Xtremlly bad, in other simple language ” D FOOD SUCKS”. I mean I can understand 100s of people coming in n ordering within a very short period of time but 2 provide uncooked food to people is whole new thing which I have seen. Bye d way I order Chinese fired rice, n u can image wht would have happen when I found out that it was not even cook for 30 sec. I had taste of cabbage & every other thing which is put in it as they r brought right from d field. Good thing that I had also ordered mangola with it. I just finished my mangola & left the so called food right there. But still if I get thru I will take admission there n simply take food 4m my home.

Monish Kamdar
hi guys to starting with my pi i ad two biggest faculty of finance prof bhatia n dean himself.. lucky me hardly any technical stuff it was nice on the whole… if u do not know say don kno sir explains beautifully…
then i had my document verificatn and then essay topic was- should college consider only cmat scores for mms admission? then my gd topic was- primary educatn-backbone of indian education? gd was smooth went for exact 14 mins.. on the whole noce experience
Mufaddal Dahodwala
gd topic-shld india adopt 1 child policy? it was fish market..got 1 warning also from panelists..interview was easy with general questions on fmly, hobbies nd all..very little finance questions asked..nd essay was “shld sports bodies be headed by political parties?”
finance questions–wat is ebit,market value,option,future,stocks,capital budgeting,equity,operating profit,net asset value..
