FAQ: Gap Certificate for MBA CET / CET CAP Admission
1. What is a gap certificate?
A gap certificate is a notarized affidavit explaining what the student did during the gap between the last completed education and the current admission.Example:Graduation completed in May 2025, MBA admission in 2026. The period between graduation and MBA admission may be treated as a gap.-
2. Is gap certificate compulsory for MBA CET CAP?
Not for every student. It is usually required only if there is a gap after your last completed education. CET Cell brochures generally mention document submission/verification during CAP and list many certificates as “if applicable”; gap certificate is practically treated as an “if applicable / if demanded” document during verification or college reporting.
3. Who needs a gap certificate?Student situation Gap certificate needed?
Final-year student taking admission immediately No
Graduated in 2025 and taking MBA admission in 2026
Yes, safer

Worked after graduation Keep gap certificate + work proof
Gap of only 1–2 months May not be asked, but safer
Gap of 6 months or more Definitely keep ready
4. I graduated in May 2025. Do I need a gap certificate?Yes, if you are taking admission in 2026, keep it ready.Even if the gap is for preparation, job search, family reasons, or personal reasons, the college may ask for a simple affidavit explaining the period after graduation.
5. I had a job after graduation. Do I still need a gap certificate?
Yes, safer.You should keep both:
Document Purpose
Gap certificate Explains the overall period after graduation

Example:
Graduated in May 2025, worked from November 2025 to February 2026. You can mention both job and MBA entrance preparation in the affidavit.
6. I have only a 2-month gap. Do I need it?
For a 2-month gap, many colleges may not ask. But still, it is better to keep it ready. It is simple, low-cost, and avoids last-minute admission problems.
7. What should be written in the gap certificate?
Simple format: “I completed my graduation in May 2025. During the period after graduation, I was preparing for MBA entrance examinations and admission process. I was not involved in any illegal activity during this period.”If you worked, add:“From November 2025 to 3 February 2026, I was employed with ________.”
8. On what paper is gap certificate made?
Usually on non-judicial stamp paper.Commonly used stamp paper value: Rs. 100.But some colleges may accept Rs. 100 / Rs. 200 / Rs. 500 depending on their internal requirement, so Rs. 100 notarized affidavit is normally enough.-

Gap certificate may be asked later during physical/online verification or final institute reporting. CET Cell processes involve document verification during admission/CAP stages.
12. Can admission be cancelled if I do not have a gap certificate?
