Paper Pattern and Time Duration for CAT exams The CAT exam is a computer generated test, for the duration of 3 hours, if the candidate answers first question correctly, one can expect the next question even more difficult one athan the first and if the first question is answered incorrect then expect an easier one. It can vary in ANY WAY. Time Duration of CAT:

CAT 2016 Paper Pattern

You cannot switch over from one section to another section till you do not finish your current section at any point. An on-screen timer will be available to you to check the amount of time left. For calculation purpose an On Screen calculator will also be provided. The calculator will be of basic type.

Type of Questions:

 Questions will be of two types:

1. MCQ

For MCQ’s calculation is very easy. For each correct answer three points are awarded to your scores and for each wrong answer one point is deducted from your total scores. For questions that are left unanswered there is no penalty. For multiple-choice questions, every question has 4 options – A, B, C and D. You can change your answer simply by clicking any circle at any time. If you’ve already selected an answer but later decide to keep that question unanswered all you can do just click that clicked circle again.

1. Direct Answer Type

For this type of Questions there is an advantage. For each correct answer three points are awarded to your scores and for wrong answers there’s no deduction of marks. For questions that are left unanswered there is no penalty. If you wish to answer a particular question at the last then all you need to do is click the mark button below the question, once you clicked it turns red and serves as the purpose of reminder once you end test. This feature helps you to review your marked question later. Note that if you have selected an answer, it will be evaluated even if it remains ‘Marked’ when you end the test.
