Answer: A official key

Approach: Dice: find the faces adjacent to 6; the one face never adjacent and not opposite to another is opposite 6.

Solution:
Faces adjacent to 3: 6, 2 (view 1), 5, 6 (view 2), 4, 5 (view 3) ⇒ 2, 4, 5, 6 ⇒ 3 is opposite 1.
Faces adjacent to 6: 3, 2 (view 1), 3, 5 (view 2) ⇒ 2, 3, 5.
Remaining faces for the opposite of 6: 1 or 4. But 1 is already opposite 3.
So 4 is opposite 6.

Why the other options are wrong:
B (3), C (5), D (2): all appear next to 6 in the views.
E (1): 1 is opposite 3, not 6.

Cetking shortcut: Find the opposite of the most frequent face (3 ↔ 1) first; then 6's opposite is the one face left (4).

Answer: A

Official CET key: A · Cetking's answer: B — see why below

Approach: A number that appears next to 4 on any view cannot be opposite it.

Solution: 4 is on top in all three views.
Neighbours of 4: 3, 6 (view I), 2, 3 (view II), 1, 2 (view III) → 1, 2, 3, 6.
The only number left is 5 → 5 is opposite 4.

Why the other options are wrong: 1, 2, 3 and 6 are all seen next to 4, so none of them can be opposite.

Cetking shortcut: List all neighbours of the given face; the face not listed is the opposite one.

Official CET key: A · Cetking's answer: E — see why below

Approach: Find the opposite of C first, then eliminate the neighbours of D.

Solution: Neighbours of C: B, A (I), A, E (II), D, E (III), D, B (IV) → A, B, D, E. So C is opposite F.
Neighbours of D: C, E (III), C, B (IV) → B, C, E.
Left for D: A and F. F is opposite C, so D is opposite A.

Why the other options are wrong: B, C, E are seen next to D; F is opposite C, so it cannot be opposite D.

Cetking shortcut: Fixing one opposite pair first (C–F) often settles the second.

Answer: A

Answer: D official key

Approach: Dice from a net — faces separated by one face in a straight line are opposite.

Solution:
The column 4–3–6–2 is a straight strip of four faces: 4 is opposite 6 and 3 is opposite 2.
1 is attached to the left of 3, and 5 is attached to the right of 2.
When folded, 1 and 5 end up on the two remaining faces, on opposite sides of the strip.
So 1 and 5 are opposite.

Why the other options are wrong:
A 3 and 4, C 2 and 4: adjacent in the strip.
B 3 and 6, E 5 and 6: adjacent (they share an edge after folding).

Cetking shortcut: In a straight line of faces, alternate faces are opposite; the two side flaps are opposite each other.

Approach: Dice — the face adjacent to all others in the views is opposite the missing number.

Solution:
View 1: 1 is adjacent to 3 and 2.
View 2: 1 is adjacent to 5 and 6.
So 1 is adjacent to 2, 3, 5 and 6 → 1 is opposite 4.
With 4 at the bottom, 1 is on top.

Why the other options are wrong:
A 5, B 3, C 6, E 2: all are adjacent to 1, so they are side faces, not opposite 4.

Cetking shortcut: The common face in both views is adjacent to the four others shown, so it is opposite the unseen number.

Answer: D

Answer: D

Approach: Dice: faces seen together are adjacent; the face never seen with a number is opposite it.

Solution: Faces adjacent to 2: 6, 4 (fig i), 3, 4 (fig ii), 1, 3 (fig iv) → 1, 3, 4, 6.
The only number never seen with 2 is 5, so 5 is opposite 2.
Check: 3 is seen with 2, 4, 5, 1 → opposite 6; 4 is seen with 6, 2, 3, 5 → opposite 1. All consistent.

Why the other options are wrong:
A 1, B 3, C 4, E 6 – all appear next to 2 in some view.

Cetking shortcut: List neighbours of the asked face; the missing number is the answer.

Answer: A

Approach: Dice: four side faces in cyclic order – alternate faces are opposite.

Solution: a, b, c, d are written on the four side faces in clockwise order, with e on top and f at the bottom.
In a cyclic order of four faces, the 1st and 3rd are opposite and the 2nd and 4th are opposite → a opposite c, b opposite d.
So when c is turned to the top, a is at the bottom.

Why the other options are wrong:
B b, C d – adjacent to c.
D e, E f – e and f are opposite each other, both adjacent to c.

Cetking shortcut: Around a cube, every alternate side face is opposite.

Arnav rolls an ordinary dice and gets a 3 on the face of the dice. What shall be the number if the number that is on the side that is exactly opposite to the face of the dice is multiplied by itself four times ?

  1. 12
  2. 81
  3. 256
  4. 1296
  5. 625
Show answerHide answer

Answer: C

Approach: Standard die: opposite faces sum to 7.

Solution:
Face shown = 3 → opposite face = 7 − 3 = 4.
Four 4s multiplied together: 4 × 4 × 4 × 4 = 256.

Why the other options are wrong:
B 81 = 3⁴ (used the wrong face).
D 1296 = 6⁴, E 625 = 5⁴, A 12 = 3 × 4.

Answer: C

Answer: B

Approach: A face's four neighbours are visible across the views; the face never seen with it is opposite.

Solution:
Views: (A, B, C), (D, C, E), (F, E, B).
C is seen with A, B, D, E → C is opposite F.
B is seen with A, C, E, F → B is opposite D.
Remaining pair: A is opposite E.

Why the other options are wrong:
B, C: shown together with A in view (i).
D: opposite B.
F: opposite C.

Cetking shortcut: Find the face that appears in two views (C or B), list its four neighbours – the missing one is its opposite.

Answer: B
